The Cat & The Fiddle
Hey diddle diddle…
What better way to spend a balmy Barbados day than a day with friends on what we believe is the best catamaran in Barbados.
The Cat and the Fiddle is a stunning 62 foot lagoon catamaran moored in the shallow draft on the west coast of Barbados. It promises a very special day for all of those lucky enough to sail on her.
Our day started around 12.30pm. We were welcomed aboard the Cat and the Fiddle by its owners, the lively, warm and insatiable Martin and Claire Ince and their wonderful staff. We felt at home immediately.
A grand tour of this splendid vessel displayed 4 luxury air conditioned double cabins all with en suite shower rooms and decorated in aquamarine soft furnishings-so calming to the senses. Beautiful birds of paradise flower arrangements adorn the spacious air conditioned living area and the open plan layout gives one the feeling of calm and space. There is a fifth cabin which is currently set up as an office but which the owners are in the process of converting so that you will soon be able to choose between office and twin cabin. Once that is completed this beautiful yacht will accommodate 10 persons overnight very comfortably.
We had seen the photos but you really have to see the Cat and the Fiddle to appreciate the beauty, space and luxury on offer. She is truly magnificent and a number of us had to pinch ourselves to believe we were on this magnificent vessel.
It is hard to describe the sense of space on this yacht. Most of us live in houses with less space and of course the views from every cabin are to die for.
One could not help but feel that this really is ‘how the other half live.’ It was a pleasure to be one of the ‘other half’ for the day.
There is so much space on this yacht you can socialise with friends or if you want a rest it is easy to find a comfortable spot away from it all. We enjoyed trying out each of the three decks sometimes enjoying being in the bright sunshine on the top deck and other times enjoying the shade. The food, wine and cocktails kept flowing in abundance and after a few sips of the wonderful rum sours on offer we really were floating in Heaven.
The beautiful teak decks are a pleasure to behold and all the seating around the decks are upholstered in taupe and grey cushions providing the ultimate in comfort and luxury.
There are even day beds tucked away on the decks so you can enjoy the view and the breeze whilst dozing after a magnificent lunch.
For those who enjoy water sports all the toys are available on request.
We sailed down the west coast of Barbados up towards Port St Charles and then tacked back south before mooring in the calm turquoise waters outside Lone Star restaurant on the west coast. A quick dip while the crew set up the dining tables and then back on board for the most exquisite lunch. Starters, main courses and cheese for dessert followed by salted caramel chocolates. All washed down with wonderful chilled rose wine. It really could not have been better.
The kitchen on this catamaran (not that you would probably spend any time in there) is a sight to behold with enormous fridge and freezer and lovely teak fittings. Any chef would be happy to prepare food in there and the food really was very special.
The bar was set up on the deck and wonderful cocktails and wines were served all day. There was even coconut water available for those who wanted to abstain.
We cannot recommend highly enough a day/weekend/ trip on this catamaran. Whether you fancy a day cruise and just want to charter her with crew for 4 hours or more or whether you would prefer to take her from 6pm in the evening, enjoy a gourmet dinner with friends and spend the night on her before breakfasting in the morning and sailing out for a wonderful day on the water the following day, you are guaranteed a memorable trip –creating memories that will punctuate all your other memories and live with you forever as one of your best experiences.
For those who want to marry in Barbados, an evening and day cruise on this fabulous yacht would be a very special adventure. If you are celebrating a special occasion what better than a half or even better a full day cruise on this catamaran. If you want to be a little more adventurous take her for a few days and let her professional and friendly crew whisk you away to the Grenadines or some of the other beautiful islands in the Caribbean. The opportunities to create memories of a lifetime are endless.
This catamaran rents from US$700 per hour for day cruises (minimum 4 hours –Cat and the Fiddle entertains 10 overnight very comfortably but for a day cruise larger numbers of up to 20 are easily catered for and the vessel is so spacious there is lots of space for everyone). There are of course special rates for overnight cruises and island trips.
